Features

1968 Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior Stradale s/n 775946, an extremely nice, alloy-bodied, lightweight street version of Alfa Romeo’s all-dominating FIA Group 2 touring car. GTA 1300 Junior Stradale s/n 775946 is a rare matching-numbers example that apparently has had only three long-term owners from new and has only 7,486 miles (12,407 kilometers) showing on the odometer. It was completed in late 1968 and registered to its original owner in Florence, Italy in 1969, staying with its original owner until 1995. It was next registered to Yuki Kakishima who owned the Alfa from 1996 until it came to the US in 2004. In 2005-2006 it was given a sympathetic restoration with a suspension and mechanical service; an engine-out service and transmission overhaul and a brake overhaul. Mechanicals were done by Alfa Performance Connection, Orange CA. Hot Rods and Hobbies in Torrance, CA completed a strip and paint and an engine compartment detailing and plating. The Alfa Corsa decals were duplicated by Molly Designs in Costa Mesa CA. In 2006 Hot Rods and Hobbies in Torrance, CA completed plating and engine detail work, paint detail work, color sanding and assembly work plus wiring and final assembly work. The total parts and restoration work was $49,969.57. It remained with its long-term US owner in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA from 2005 to 2013. Comes with the original take-off shocks, carbs and the original steering wheel. In 2015 new twin 45 DCOE Weber carbs were purchased, jetted and setup by Mike Pierce of Pierce Manifolds in Gilroy, CA.

This Junior Stradale has been well-maintained by each of its owners throughout its life. It was set up in fast, road going configuration and is still equipped with its original numbers-matching 1,300-cc engine. The engine has benefited from new 45 DCOE Weber carburetors and the ATE disc brakes and was treated to a new clutch and Koni shock absorbers. While this GTA Jr was originally delivered in Hawthorn White, it was refinished in 2005-2006 in the signature Rosso Alfa red with period-correct Autodelta livery and features the Quadrifoglio, the hood serpent and a white stripe running along both sides. The interior, including the rare and desirable sling back seats, the dash, upholstery, and headliner are unblemished and it is still fitted with its very rare lightweight polished aluminum bumpers. Alfa GTA Jr. s/n 775946 comes with the original “Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo” build confirmation documents and translations of all Japanese ownership documents plus all American service and restoration invoices, the original jack and the jack kit. This very rare and desirable 1300 Stradale comes with the owner’s manual, a 1300 GTA supplement and a technical shop manual. Few complete and original examples exist today, and those that do have seen a dramatic increase in value due to their scarcity. This particular car is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a genuine GTA Stradale that is suitable for both vintage racing and street use. Cosmetically crisp and fresh in appearance.
