1960 Ferrari 250 GT PF Cabriolet s/n 2099 GT. In the USA from new with one very–long–term owner for thirty–seven years. Fully documented ownership history from new. Blu Scuro with gray–tan leather. Recent cosmetic restoration with two special awards at Concorso Italiano: in 2004 displayed with a California Spyder to show the two open Ferraris in that period, in 2007 as the 250 series II cab for the 50th year anniversary of Ferrari’s cabriolet. Runs and drives well, but scheduled for a full mechanical restoration to Platinum level in January including a rebuild and platinum level detail of the engine, transmission, suspension, rear end, brakes, shocks, springs and all soft and hard brake lines, scheduled for completion in about ninety days. Matching numbers 128F engine. Ready to make the leap to Platinum–level mechanicals.

Complete with the factory hardtop, owner’s handbook, a sales brochure, a full history file back to a copy of the 1963 title, voluminous service and restoration invoices, and will include all ongoing invoices, photos and details of the current mechanical restoration work. The full mechanical restoration is included in the sale price.

History

S/n 2099 GT. 250 GT PF Cab. Series II. PF job number: 29777. Originally Nocciola, MM 16259, vinyl and leather, naturale 3218. Went to Pininfarina for coachwork on July 14, 1960, and was finished October 4, 1960. 77th of 202 built.

1961, new to Luigi Chinetti Motors, 1093 Upper King St., Greenwich, CT. 06831.

1961 to 1963, sold by Luigi Chinetti Motors to first owner, first owner unknown.

1963, 27 May, sold by Chinetti to Chester Kitchings, CT. Chester Kitchings owned this 250 PF Cab for over 37 years.

1963, 14 June, Connecticut title issued to Chester Kitchings, CT.

1982, 02 Aug., service for Chester Kitchings by Foreign Cars Ltd, 810 Middlesex Turnpike, Old Saybrook, CT 06475. Installed new plugs. Total invoice: $59.25.

1982, 02 Aug., service for Chester Kitchings by Foreign Cars Ltd. Rebuilt generator, installed new speedometer cable. Total invoice: $323.72.

1988, 27 Oct., final invoice for body and paint for Chester Kitchings by Delorge Auto Body, Inc., 64 Blackhall Street, New London, CT, 06320. Total invoice for 466 hours of body and paint work, plus materials: $17,230.79

1991, June–August, major mechanical rebuild done for Chester Kitchings by Foreign Cars Ltd. Engine and transmission removed, complete engine rebuilt, starter rebuilt, generator rebuilt, clutch fan assembly rebuilt and water pump rebuilt. A very detailed seven page invoice on file. Total invoice: $35,164.87.

1997, 04 Feb., service for Chester Kitchings by Motorsports Service, 715 Boston Sports Road, Westbrook, CT, 06498. Changed oil and filter. Installed new thermostat, starter solenoid and plugs. Total invoice: $1,822.94.

1997, 13 Feb., service for Chester Kitchings by Motorsports Service. Rebuilt the brake calipers, installed new brake pads, rebuilt the water pump and tested the generator. Total invoice: $4,302.86.

2000, 15 Sept., sold by Chester Kitchings (who was then 86 years old) to Dick Fritz, Amerispec, 190 George Washington Highway, Ridgefield, CT.

2001, 20 Jan., at Bonhams & Brooks, Palm Beach, FL auction. As per Sports Car Market review:

Metallic brown with brown leather. Cloth soft top, hard top included. Odo: 53,000 miles. Presentable condition. Vintage–looking interior. Recent $35K mechanical work including rebuilt engine and serviced transmission. In the world of open V12 Ferraris, PF SII Cabs are relative bargains.

2001, 15 Feb., title transferred by Dick Fritz, Amerispec, to Cars Dawidiak.

2001, 28 Mar., front calipers rebuilt for Zarko Draganic, Belvedere, CA 94920. Work done by The Collection, 200 Bird Road, Coral Gables, FL, 333146.

2002, October, rear differential outer seals replaced and a pre–purchase inspection was done for current owner by Prancing Horse California, 1390 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Total invoice: $1,468.52.

2002, 11 Oct., sold by Brandon Lawrence to current owner, Alamo, CA.

2003, 04 Dec., all major chrome components redone for current owner by High Luster Chrome Plating, 2466 American Ave., Hayward, CA 94545. Total invoice: $5,500.00.

2004, 28 Apr., new cam roller pins, bushings and rocker arm screws supplied for current owner by Dennis McCann Ferrari Parts. Total invoice: $1,813.25.

2004, 27 June, shown at the Palo Alto Concours d′Elegance. Scored 85.0 points.

2004, 14 Aug., Concorso Italiano, Black Horse Golf Course at Monterey Bay, Seaside, CA, invited to be displayed along with a 250 GT California Spyder to show the two types of open Ferraris built during that period for Ferrari.

2005, 20 Apr., new old stock exhaust system supplied for current owner by Tom Shaughnessey. Total invoice: $2,801.50.

2005, 26 Apr., service work done by Patrick Ottis. Valve adjustment and cam chain adjusted, installed 24 new valve screws and 12 new spark plugs. Replaced nine quarts of oil. Total invoice: $2,890.90.

2005, 15 Aug., major service work done by Patrick Ottis. Custom fit new exhaust, checked charging system, removed fuel tank for leak repair, repaired, repainted and re–installed fuel tank. Total invoice: $5,887.34.

2005, 02 Oct., 2nd Annual Niello Concours at Serrano, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762. Bel Ferrari Ultimo Award. Best in Class Award (CLASS H ~ FERRARI THROUGH 1975). Current owner.
