The engine and transaxle were removed, the final drive seals, the front crank seal and the rear main seal were replaced. All four Weber carbs were rebuilt; new spark plug wires were installed; the cams were removed; the valves were set and new cam belts, new tensioner bearings, new cam pulleys and new cam seals were installed. Eight new spark plugs were installed and the soft fuel lines and fuel crossover hoses were replaced. The flywheel was resurfaced and a new clutch and pressure plate were installed. The rear brake calipers were rebuilt and re-plated, the front rotors were machined, new front brake pads were installed, a new master cylinder and all new brake soft rubber lines were fitted. A new cooling system header recovery tank was sourced, a new water pump was installed, all engine bay water hoses and clamps were replaced and the cooling system was flushed and refilled. The distributors were converted to electronic ignition, the alternator was rebuilt, a new battery and left fuse box were installed and a battery cover was sourced. The A/C system was recharged. The interior received all new leather on both seats and the dash was recovered in the correct vinyl. Total invoice for the mechanical restoration, the seats and dash was $26,875.81.

The frontal area of the car has been repainted at some time to eliminate the usual stone chips. The rest of the paint has only the most minor wear marks and fading. There is no fading to the bumpers or black trim. The 5-spoke 16″ diameter modular billet aluminum wheels are fitted with excellent Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 205/55R16 91V front and 712 225/50R16 92V rear tires. Both the engine bay and trunk are in beautiful original condition. The front compartment is in nice condition and is fitted with the correct original 14″ Factory wheel with an XWX spare tire. From new in Fly yellow with black leather. The body is straight and the paint is mostly original with some mismatch from spot repairs over the years. There is no evidence of accident or rust repairs to the body, underside or chassis. The trim, gaskets, window glass and lenses are also in excellent condition. The car has excellent drivability and functioning of all systems and has been extremely well sorted. The engine bay is nicely detailed and the under panels, belly pan and suspension are in good condition. The A/C system is rebuilt and blows cold. 308 GTB s/n 22879 has 54,692 total original miles and less than 20 miles since the engine, transaxle, brakes, A/C system and cooling system services. All smog is removed and so it is NOT California legal. A good looking, great sounding, totally sorted, amazingly user-friendly and ready to go carbureted 308 GTB that will not disappoint.
