1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder conversion s/n 12891. A Euro model plexi-headlight Daytona finished in Rosso Corsa with red leather, black inserts, red carpets. Converted to a Daytona Spyder by Mike Sheehan’s European Auto Restoration in 1978–79. One long term owner from September 1984 to today, so twenty-seven years. Comes with hand written records from 1989 to today showing only 10,962 miles. Just completed a $14,750.60 long term maintenance service, $2,100 for very good tires and $3,942.00 for a brake rebuild. Runs and drives well, great power-band from a very strong engine and an excellent gearbox. Good exterior chrome, stainless trim and window glass. Both driver’s and passenger’s doors shut well. Cromodora mags with excellent 215/70 X 15 front and “Boxer spec.” 225/70 X 15 Michelin XWX rear tires. Has the original “Clamshell” folding cover for the top. Excellent patina on the leather seats, door panels, headliner, carpets and rear shelf. Canvas top and the back window in excellent condition. Correct early European model wooden steering wheel. Wing window latches in place. Engine compartment nicely detailed. New hood struts and good hood pad. Has hand-written service records back to 1989. Extensive pre-buy inspection done, runs and drives exceptionally well. Excellent mechanical condition with three services of $14,750.60, $2,100 and $3,942.00 just completed. Additional service to rebuild all four shocks and fit a new plexiglass headlight cover in February.

S/n 12891. Identified as 365 GTB/4. Destinazione SAVAF, Switzerland. Assembly sequence no. 78, body no. 74. Fitted with a/c. (H. Raab "Ferrari Serial Numbers Part I, 2nd ed"). Originally Bianco Polo with Nero VM 8500.

1969, 18 Sept., factory completion date.

1977, June, confirmed by SEFAC Ferrari as a 365 GTB/4 during research for the Daytona book.

1970s, in the Chicago area.

1978–79, shipped to Mike Sheehan’s European Auto Restoration and converted to a Daytona Spyder conversion for Jim Lyons, San Diego.

1980, sold by Jim Lyons to Paul Rauch (ABC producer - such as “One Life to Live”).

Sold by Paul Rauch to Rick Hardy of Kinnelon NJ.

1981, 28 and 30 Nov., as per conversations with Walker Ancker, Norwalk, CT being offered as an original Spyder in the New York area.

1984, 22 June, offered in the New York Times at 201 492 0592. Red with black interior. Borranis. Exceptional.

1984, 26 Sept., sold by Rick Hardy to Donald H Beisner, Springfield, MO, 65809. Don Beisner paid $85,000. At the time the odometer read 5,734 miles.

Spyder conversion, kept in climate controlled environment, driven and serviced regularly regardless of mileage fluids changed on a basis of time. Car kept under cover.

Cosmetics; touch up paint on top of the windscreen where top contacts top of windscreen. rust spot behind Right Front wheel in rocker panel approx. 1.5x2.0 in. otherwise great condition. Top & taneau cover in great shape. Wires & knock offs in excellent shape. Carpet not original but in good shape. Seats & dash some sun fade but otherwise excellent . Spare is mag style/ trunk is clean and correct. Undercarriage has been undercoated. Electricals and latchs; all systems operating a-c needs freon. Heater controls stiff but operating. Pass side window is lazy but reliable. Underside; some oil seepage from steering box. Transaxle dry. Steering & suspension components all straight and correct. Bushings old but intact. Some rust on drivers side rear where a jack might have been placed. Recent brake lines. Belts & hoses old but in good shape.

Road test; car starts promptly, runs smooth, shifts up & down through all gears, clutch action smooth. Braking is straight and without pulsing or shaking. All gauges and readings correct. Cars ride is firm and straight-forward operational and active.

2011, 01 Dec.–30 Dec., serviced by Symbolic Motor Car Company, 11455 Sorrento Valley Rd San Diego, CA 92121. Perform compression and leak-down test. Check and adjust carbs and distributors, R&R left rear wheel bearing, R&R starter motor and sublet for repairs. Steam cleaning chassis. Repair leak at steering box. Perform 4 wheel alignment. Replace hood struts. Change all fluids including engine oil and filters, gearbox oil, coolant and flush brake fluid. Repair damaged header tube with header removed, modify and install customer supplied exhaust. Cut out rusted jacking points, fab and install new pieces. Cut out rusted area of r/s rocker panel, rivet and panel bond in new pieces below black body line. Repaint lower black trim for complete car. Check gas pedal operation. Replace missing oil pan stud. Clean, repair and paint lower sill trim. Clean polish and paint complete exhaust system and tips. Install red tape and ANSA sticker when done. Total invoice: $14,750.60.

2012, 04 Jan., serviced by Symbolic Motor Car Company, install very good used XWX tires, 215/70 X 15 front, 225/70 X 15 rear and very good used mufflers. Total invoice: $2,100.00.

2012, 13 Jan., final invoice from Symbolic Motor Car Company. Rebuild all four brake calipers; undercoat car, repair vent window latch, replace all 12 spark plugs, check coolant, repair and adjust passenger’s door window, check door closing and adjustment. Total invoice: $3,942.00.
