1983 512 BBi. Red with black “Boxer” bottom and black leather with grey cloth inserts. European production. New to the USA. New to California. In California all its life. Imported by M. Sheehan, European Auto Sales, Inc., in 1983. Sold new to Greg Brown. Because of California’s bizarre laws regarding importing new cars 512 BBi arrived showing approximately 10,000 miles. Now has 29,000 miles so it has about 19,000 real miles.


S/n 44811. 512 BBi. New in red with a black Boxer bottom trim, black leather seats with grey cloth inserts.

1983, May 2, imported into the US for Cal Rossi, in Red with black interior. Imported by Mike Sheehan, European Auto, Costa Mesa, CA.

Transaction with Cal Rossi not completed so sold new to Greg Brown, Long Beach, California.

Listed in 1986–1993 FOC Rosters by Greg Brown, Long Beach, CA.

Serviced from new by Rod Drew, F.A.I., Costa Mesa, CA.

1993, 30,000 mile service done by F.A.I. $5,000.

2000, April, inspected by M. Sheehan at Greg Brown’s home. Amazingly good original, almost never used condition.

Has the all–important CARB / BAR code sticker. This 512 BBi has been continuously registered in California, to the same owner, since 1983.

It magically had 16,000 kms when it arrived in the USA, as needed to come into California, even though it was a new car. It now shows 26,000 miles but. . . actual mileage is about 16,000 miles.

It is red with black bottom and black interior with gray cloth inserts. Has the owner’s handbook, the parts book, the USA supplement, the radio book, the warranty cards, the carrying pouch, and all service records from new. Has the spare wheel and tire, unused tools and jack kit, fitted factory style interior car cover, waterproof exterior car cover and a factory parts book.

It has the stock exhaust, Borla exhaust, and catalyst exhaust plus numerous spare mufflers. It has many boxes of N.O.S. parts including new heat shields, the original radio and booster, many small interior trim pieces, etcetera. . ..

2000, May–July, 30,000 mile “engine out” service with cam belts replaced, all new water hoses, all new shocks, shock bushings, spring boots, brake hoses, rear main seal and front crank seal replaced, brake fluids serviced. AC recharged, shift shaft seal replaced. New Tubi exhaust installed. All work done by Rod Drew of F.A.I., Costa Mesa, total repair bill $13,649.95.

2001, March, brake pads replaced, new brake power booster installed, brake rotors machined, dash recovered, fluids serviced, All work done by Rod Drew of F.A.I., Costa Mesa, total repair bill $6,627.95.

2003, December, car at F.A.I. for smog check car for sale in California. Tubi exhaust removed and replaced with catalytic system for California smog test, minor service work done, bill approximately $1,600. Current California smog test in hand. Now shows 29,312 miles but actual mileage is probably about 19,000.
