We are pleased to offer 1966 Corvette 427/425 hp Roadster s/n 194676S115108. Fitted from new with the L72 425 hp 427 cu. in. solid lifter, single 4-barrel carburetor V8 engine, an M21 4-speed Close Ratio Heavy Duty manual transmission and G81 4:11 rear gears. As the first year of the 7-liter 427 cubic inch Big Block, Chevrolet had already admitted the potency of the 1966’s high performance Big Block when it was initially introduced at 450 horsepower then revised to 425hp shortly after its introduction, due to new insurance premium penalties introduced in 1966. The 1966 425 horsepower 427 differed not at all from the Chevy’s 450 horsepower engine, except for the advertising. The 1966 427/425 was, in truth, a fire-breathing behemoth, developed from a series of special engines Zora Arkus-Duntov and his performance-oriented Corvette team had been field testing while the Corvette’s brake system had been updated to match the power and torque of the ever larger, better breathing V8s. The 1966 Corvette had the four-wheel disc brakes and handling to match its new Big Horsepower, Big Block 427.

1966 Corvette 427/425hp Roadster s/n 115108 has been restored as an all-matching-numbers “Top Flight” winning Corvette in its original 978AA Laguna Blue with black interior. Its Big Block casting #3869942 is stamped 6115108 T0204IP, which shows the car’s matching VIN number and the Tonawanda, NY Feb 04, 1966 assembly plant and date. The M-21 original close ratio Muncie 4 speed transmission #3885010 has the VIN 6S115108 factory stamped on the case, which confirms it is the original that came in the car when new. The original 4:11 positraction FB 2 22 66 ,(factory stamped FB= 4;11, 2 22 66 = Feb 22, 1966 differential is with the car and its now fitted with a 3:36 (AM 12 23 65) positraction differential for highway cruising. The carburetor is the correct Holly 800 C.F.M. list #3247 GM # 3886101 with date code of 6A3= January 1966, 3rd week. Also fitted with the correct date stamped alternator 6A31 (Jan., 31, 1966); the correct 3885069 intake manifold; the original factory AM/FM radio; white convertible top; Teakwood steering wheel; K66 Transistor Ignition System and A01 Soft Ray Tinted Glass. The chassis was treated to a “Body off” restoration in 1995-96 and on May 10, 1996 the car was judged NCRS TOP FLIGHT in Virginia at the Mid Atlantic Chapter in Williamsburg. A gorgeous older restoration with an excellent body and paint that need nothing, fully serviced, offering staggering performance and style.
