We are pleased to offer 1996 Viper RT/10 CS (Carroll Shelby) s/n 100226. This one–owner Viper has only 9,225 miles and is #16 of only 50 Viper RT/10 CS heavily optioned models scheduled to be built, each signed by Carroll Shelby and delivered new in 1996 through Fitzgerald Dodge in Laconia, New Hampshire. Because the Carroll Shelby edition was a $20,000 option, only 21 cars were actually ever built and sold.

The Viper RT/10 CS edition featured improved creature comforts including the Viper Coupe GTS–style interior with adjustable pedals, dual airbags, very attractive white–face analog instrumentation, air conditioning and a color–matched lift–off hardtop. Unique modular wheels are fitted. The RT/10 CS roadster also incorporates the Viper GTS Coupe’s latest chassis advances with 25 percent greater torsional stiffness while shedding 50 pounds. Aluminum suspension components shaved another 60 pounds, and reworked geometry improved roll control, suspension action and handling. The Viper RT/10 CS also featured rear–exiting exhaust, keeping the cockpit cacophony to a minimum, while the grill crossbar was removed giving the nose a very “Cobra” look unique amongst other Vipers.

As enthusiasts know, the Viper was initially envisioned as a modern–day Cobra 427 S/C with a focus on brute performance. Thanks to heavy involvement from Carroll Shelby and design cues from the Pete Brock–designed Shelby Cobra Daytona, the Viper was a minimalist straight–forward design with muscular and aggressive styling. The Viper RT/10 CS edition featured a Lamborghini–engineered aluminum 8.0–liter V–10 that first appeared in the GTS coupe that was 80 pounds lighter than the original RT/10 engine. The new engine developed 450 hp with a staggering 490 pound-feet of torque. The horsepower peak hits at 5300 rpm (700 rpm shy of redline and 900 rpm before the fuel cutoff intervenes to protect the engine). The RT/10 thunders to 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds with the quarter mile flashing by in an intense 12.3 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph. Comes with the owners handbook and a loose–leaf binder with all concours, ownership and service records. All fluids serviced every year, regardless of mileage. Always garaged and always covered. Priced very right at $34,950 or best offer, seriously for sale.
