We are pleased to offer USA model 1969 Mercedes Benz 280 SL s/n 012292. This two owner 280 SL was sold new to the first owner in 1969 and has been with the second owner since 1975, so thirty-nine years. The body is in excellent original condition and all of the under hood and rear body spots welds are original with no signs of any panel replacement and no signs of any accidents, damage, or rust on the undercarriage. It is painted in very nice Ivory with Tobacco leather. All the original interior components working, including the A/C, interior lights, Becker Cassette Stereo radio and even the clock. This 280 SL has no problems starting up on the first try, and with a light clutch, it is a very nice driver. The 280 SL was first introduced in December of 1967 and ended production in February of 1971. It is the last of Mercedes W113 series, and has evolved from a sports car into a very comfortable and quiet grand tourer. The biggest change was the upgrade to the 2,778 cc engine with 180 lb-ft max torque and 170 ps max power. This new upgrade, along with each engine being individually bench tested for two hours prior to being fitted, finally gave the w 113 series adequate and guaranteed power. Out of the 23,885 280 SLs produced, only half were sold into the USA, with the American model coming standard with A/C.

Mercedes Benz 280 SL s/n 012292 comes with the full set of books including the owner’s manual, parts catalogue, A/C operator’s guide, Becker Grand Prix radio manual and detailed service records back to 1994. Also has the correct original spare wheel and tire with tire cover and the original jack and lug wrench/tire iron. Also has the original tool roll with most of the original tools. Has the original Becker Grand Prix radio. Has factory air conditioning. 87,843 miles. All US gauges. There is a small dent in the lower left rear rocker panel and the original Tobacco leather on the front seats needs to be replaced, hence the sheepskin covers. A nice “driver-level” rust free, Arizona-based 280 SL.
